MDPI AG (MDPI) and the Austrian Academic Library Consortium (KEMÖ) have reached an agreement (discount model). Eligible authors of the participating institutions are entitled to either a 30 % or 20 % discount on the applicable fees.

Who is eligible?
Corresponding authors as well as (only) affiliated authors are eligible. Those receive different discounts (see Option 1 and Option 2, question: "What costs are covered by the agreement?")
Which article types are eligible?
Research articles, article reviews, case reports, letters, communications, and technical notes are eligible. Further, editorials, addendums/corrections, and retractions are covered by the agreement, but no APCs are charged for those.
What license options are available?
Articles are published under a CC BY license only.
When do authors have to be affiliated with a participating member institution to be eligible for funding?
Authors must be affiliated with a participating member institution on the submission date.
What costs are covered by the agreement?
Option 1: Participating member institutions with central payment: 30 % discount ("the affiliated author is the Eligible Author i.e. corresponding author"); (30 % discount is applicable since 1.8.2025, before this date 20%); 20 % discount, if the authors pay the bill themselves ("at least one author is an affiliated author of the Institution"); Option 2: Participating member institutions with non-central payment: 20 % discount ("at least one author is an affiliated author of the Institution"); sind 2023, this discount can again be combined with other discounts
